Skylar Astin has been a regular fixture on our screens for over a decade now with turns in the likes of Pitch Perfect, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and more recently Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. The handsome star unveiled his debut original single Without You earlier this year, but now follows it up with euphoric new track When You’re Not There.
With funk-infused basslines and infectious percussion, Skylar sings “I wanna love you, I’m gonna care, The only problem’s when you’re not there…” Production from Eric Lam and Alex Koste help this shine as an elegant pop number whilst Eric and Skylar’s co-written lyrics show a keen eye for an addictive, uplifting pop hook.
It’s not yet clear whether Skylar is building up to a full length project or opting for a standalone single approach.
