Sprinkling a danceable groove onto classic Dame Shirley Bassey Bond theme Diamonds Are Forever, US-French chanteuse Arielle Dombasle delivers a truly unforgettable cover. The number is set to feature on Arielle’s upcoming studio project Iconics due May 24th.
Earlier this month, Arielle released a cover of Marlene Dietrich classic The Boys in the Back Room which is also expected to feature on the album. Fans may also expect to see Arielle’s 2022 singles Fever and Barbiconic on the tracklist, which is yet to be confirmed.
On the upcoming album, Arielle shares: “ICONICS, that is to say musical icons, stars, divas… female figures, half-women, half-legends, who have populated my imagination since childhood. They were my first models, at the crossroads of voice and style. They have accompanied me since childhood to the four corners of the world. Eternal inspirations.” [Translation]
A translation of Arielle’s webpost shares her thoughts on the original version of Diamonds Are Forever: “Shirley Bassey… Powerful and iconic voice, she embodies the style of the first James Bond that I saw. I was twelve years old. All of a sudden, in Mexico, in an amphitheater cinema, this voice burst out… Sensual, conquering, with fantastic accents… Diamonds are forever…”
Iconics arrives May 24th. Follow Arielle here.
