Atle Pettersen’s Melodi Grand Prix track Masterpiece was one of the standouts of the contest thanks to its powerhouse chorus, the Norwegian showman’s emotive delivery and its rousing piano-driven melody. Whilst Masterpiece narrowly missed out representing Norway at Eurovision, the track still shines as a career best for Atle – with the musician showcasing a new side to the number through a remix from Piston Damp.
On the track Atle co-writes with Andreas Johansson and Hanna Dorothy Bristow, with production also from Andreas. It gets a makeover courtesy of Norwegian producer Piston Damp who pack the number with twinkling eighties-inspired synths and pounding electronics through drum machine beats. The result is a unique and dynamic sound that is both catchy and atmospheric.
Hopefully Atle will continue explore both a mix of bangers and emotional anthems like Masterpiece.
