A country starlet and a disco legend join forces on Honky Tonk Disco Nights, the latest single from Elle King which utilises the talents of CHIC icon Nile Rodgers. The slick pop number combines country trappings through its lyrical imagery and Elle’s raspy vocals, whilst Nile’s basslines and some added silky strings transport us to Studio 54 via the way of the Grand Old Opry.
“Honky-tonk disco night / Neon in my eyes / Got your temperature running high / Get your dirty boots on the floor,” Elle sings against powerhouse production from Gabriel Hirshoff and Jared Gutstadt. These producers also write the track alongside Abby Anderson and Scarlett Burke.
The track follows a string of standalone singles for Elle including Miranda Lambert collaboration Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home) and Dierks Bentley duet Worth a Shot. It is expected that the singer’s third studio album will drop at some point this year – following on from 2018’s Shake the Spirit.
