Australian Pop Favourite Lachie Gill Releases Sad Boy Summer Anthem ‘Sad Summer’

“It was at a time when my relationship was going through a bit of a rough stage. I’ve written way too many sad songs, and I wanted to see if I could put that energy into something a bit more upbeat.” Australian musician Lachie Gill shares on his new single Sad Summer.

Despite the lyrics referencing this tough time, Lachie balances this out with buoyant upbeat production from Andy Mak – who co-writes the track with Lachie and Thom Mak. Nostalgia packed lyricism, references to Lana Del Rey songs and woozy carefree summers gives the track a breezy up-tempo feel. Lachie adds “I’ve never wanted to be just a sad ballad singer. People have only ever heard me giving that real grit and emotion. Sad Summer’ still has that emotion, but it takes on a more happy, fun, and cheeky sort of vibe.”

This year saw Lachie win The Voice Australia and go on to sign with Universal Music Australia.
