Louise returned with Heavy Love (remind yourself of its perfection with our five star review) after a seventeen year hiatus from recording back in 2020. She has since kept the ball rolling since this phenomenal comeback LP with brand new music in the form of Super Magic. The single draws influence from classic R&B-infused pop and funk with hints of Janet Jackson and Prince’s inspiration on the track.
“I didn’t see you coming, Like all the best tricks, I didn’t see you coming, Like super magic…” Louise sings in the opening beats against a synth groove that feels like Louise’s spin on Janet’s Control. The Arms Around the World hitmaker co-writes the track alongside Alexandra Denton, Antony Whiting, and Emily Philips with production from Joshua Grant.
Super Magic is expected to feature as part of a new Greatest Hits from Louise that will see her put a contemporary spin on tracks from the entire expanse of her career. The set is rumoured to be due in Spring 2023 from BMG.
Welcome back Louise!
