Shania Twain Serves a Nostalgic Escapist Pop Fantasy With Up-Tempo New Single ‘Waking Up Dreaming’

Shania Twain gives us a taste of her upcoming sixth studio album with new single Waking Up Dreaming. The rousing country-pop gem sees Shania co-write with David Stewart and Jessica Agombar, with Stewart also stepping in to produce the track.

Brimming with a sense of carefree fun, the Up! singer shares “So let’s start waking up dreaming / And dress up crazy like superstars / There ain’t no shaking this feeling / Tonight we’re making our way to Mars…” with the track serving up a nostalgic escapist fantasy. The track follows Shania’s Not Just a Girl which featured on her recent Highlights compilation released alongside her own Netflix documentary.

Whilst there is no date set in stone for Shania’s latest full length studio album, late 2022 to early 2023 would be a sensible presumption.

Shania teases: “I’ve spent the last couple years working away on new music… on my documentary… on the Vegas residency and it’s been such a creatively fulfilling time for me, I can’t wait for this next chapter and Waking Up Dreaming is just the start.⁠”
