Petras delivers breezy summer joy by the bucketful on her new single Malibu. The track inspired by the “Baywatch fantasy of Malibu” sees the singer return to her upbeat pop roots after the somewhat introspective sound of her most recent studio album Clarity. The singer noted:
“I just want ‘Malibu’ to be a fizzy, refreshing drink that comes to you during this quarantine and makes you forget all your anxieties. I hope this can be a little vitamin shot that brightens your day.”
Petras has succeeded on that front. The track is an immediately likeable one – a sleek pop number that manages to conjure up imagery of hot American summers, shining blue Pacific ocean, and sun-baked Malibu kitsch.
Malibu is set to be the first taste of Petras’s new album.
