During an extended break from his group, Scissor Sisters, Jake Shears released one of the most impressive debut solo albums in recent memory last year. The woozy Southern pop-rock LP would also have a few tracks that never made the final cut, but thankfully we can enjoy these with the release of Shears’ new B-Sides EP.
Whatever It Takes is a woozy Southern waltz (which Shears notes was written for The Greatest Showman when it was in its early development), whilst Fit An’t One Thing pairs strings with an electronic baseline in a sexy rock number. The final track of the three song EP is a queer love ballad, Arrington Fields.
It’s nice to have new music from Jake, which will happily fill the gap until a new solo album or dare we say, a Scissor Sisters reunion.
