“‘Midwest Rock & Roll’ is the kind of music I’ve wanted to make since I was a kid first learning to write songs back home in Kalamazoo, Michigan,” shares Ryan Hurd about his latest single.
The country talent adds: “It feels like practicing with your first band in the basement – it’s the soundtrack for growing up and figuring it out. I’m extremely proud of this song and the music I’m creating, and I hope that this next musical chapter hits people right in the heart.”
On Midwest Rock & Roll, Ryan collaborates with Mark Holman and Randy Montana. It arrives three years after Ryan’s debut studio album Pelago which hit #11 on the country charts. The number taps into hometown nostalgia with Ryan crooning: “You set your own heart on fire when you grow up where its cold / darkness and teenage desire yeah that’s Midwest Rock & Roll.”
