Dannii Minogue is currently bringing high end glamour to our screens as the host of BBC hit I Kissed a Boy and is celebrating her seminal Neon Nights album with a twentieth anniversary edition. But they say good things come in threes and the Australian pop queen delivers with her first taste of brand new music since her 2017 single Galaxy. Dannii’s new number is We Could Be The One, which fans will recognise as the joyous synthy piece of goodness that soundtracks her latest BBC show.
Produced by long-time collaborator Ian Masterson, We Could Be The One is a euphoric anthem, a deliciously sugary pop concoction in which Dannii sounds her best. The number sees Dannii sing “Hold on to me under neon lights / Take me by the hand into the night / Yeah, we could be the one / We could be the one…” We can’t express just how good it is to hear new Dannii music and we can only hope that this leads to further new tunes or even an album from the star.
Ian shares: “Hayley Sanderson and I have written the theme song to Dannii Minogue and BBC Three’s new show ‘I Kissed A Boy’ which is released on 2nd June with all profits going to Switchboard LGBT+ Helpline. I wrote this song about meeting Daniel Williams in a gay club while playing keys for Dannii 25 years ago. She has always been the original gay Cupid!”
