We’ve reached our final planned Eurovision Song Contest 2023 interview this year and it is the lovely Gustaph who represents Belgium with his joyous house anthem Because Of You. The singer stormed to victory in his nation’s national Eurosong final and has subsequently impressed with his euphoric number at pre-parties across Europe before hitting the stage in Liverpool in Semi-Final 2 on the 11th of May.
Gustaph delved into his journey in the music industry so-far including initial guidance to keep his sexuality ‘mysterious’, his collaborations with Hercules and Love Affair, and what he thinks is the magic spark that Belgium brings to the Eurovision Song Contest.
The musician shared the inspiration for Because Of You and the early-nineties inspirations that went into both the single and its accompanying aesthetics. Gustaph dubbed the staging as dynamic, a celebration, and colourful – further building up our already excited expectations for the performance. It was also fantastic to hear Gustaph’s thoughts on his fellow entries of the year, as well as his quickfire question answers.
Thanks to the brilliant Gustaph for chatting. You can connect with him here.
