“Some have to fake it, Some don’t need to pretend, Some were born for greatness, but I was born to win…” Helena Paparizou sings defiantly on her latest single Lighting. The track is a collaboration with rising Greek DJ and producer Levianth who specialises in drum and bass music.
Lightning sees Helena sing atop crunching synths, pounding bass and sharp moody production. The track is co-written by Helena, Levianth and Natassa Tsonis and marks a further new release from the Eurovision 2005 winner who dropped her album Apohrosis earlier this year. Helena shot to international fame after her entry My Number One stormed to victory in Kyiv with 230 points. She would also go on to compete in birth country Sweden’s Melodifestivalen in 2014 with Survivor.
This year the Greek Goddess has also given us a duet with Magnus Carlsson, Day and Night, alongside a new version of Twist in My Sobriety – by Tanita Tikaram yet made famous by Liza Minelli and the Pet Shop Boys.
