Camp Heaven! Claire Richards and Andy Bell Take On ABBA’s ‘Summer Night City’

Both well versed in an ABBA cover – Erasure’s Abba-esque and Steps versions of tracks such as Dancing Queen and Lay All Your Love On Me – now Andy Bell and Claire Richards join forces on Summer Night City. The track is set to feature on Claire’s upcoming Euphoria covers album which sees her take on Celine, Loreen and Laura Branigan. It arrives August 25th.

Claire shared: “While it’s always scary to tackle ABBA, we chose to include ‘Summer Night City’ on the album because it’s not an obvious choice but it’s an absolute banger. The idea of inviting Andy Bell to duet on this song is truly a full circle moment for me 12 years after becoming friends while competing on Popstar to Operastar. Both Steps and Erasure have so many connections to ABBA. It felt like a perfect match but probably not one people would expect. I’m delighted to have Andy be part of this record.”

Euphoria is available in numerous formats including picture disc, CD, marbled vinyl and deluxe neon vinyl.

On the album, a press release shares: “Produced by Steve Anderson (Kylie/Britney/Girls Aloud/Take That/Westlife), the album features classics by legendary female singers, of which Claire writes that “This album is a thank you to all the incredible women that inspired me to sing!” Two special guests join Claire on ‘EUPHORIA’, with Andy Bell featured on ‘Summer Night City’ and Delta Goodrem on ‘No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)’ .”
