Drawing inspiration from the Summer of 2019, KEiiNO release Summer of My Life – a barnstorming eighties-flavoured synth-driven anthem that intertwines woozy sun struck nostalgia with a sense of hope for times ahead. The track follows their recently released cover of Olivia Rodrigo’s Driver’s Licence.
On their new schlager gem, Tom Hugo notes how the band’s experiences in Berlin were key in inspiring the track: “We love being in places where a diverse group of people meet, and the “dress how you want, do what you like” mentality in Berlin is very liberating. It’s also a city where we’ve written a lot of our songs, and we can’t wait to fly back and work with our producer again.”
KEiiNO write the track alongside Alexander Olsson with production by Kent and Cato Sundberg, who fans will know as members of Donkeyboy – who also are fresh from the release of new music in the form of Kentucky.
KEiiNO are set to embark on a tour of Norway this year and we have our fingers crossed a trip to the UK will soon follow as restrictions across the globe ease. Alexandra notes that the track will shine as the perfect roadtrip anthem: “We hope people will be blasting ‘Summer of My Life’ this summer, wherever they may spend it. Hopefully it will both bring back memories and build excitement for the things to come. If you ask me, it’s the perfect song for a road trip.”
