Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones and The Wind and The Wave’s Patty Lynn and Dwight Baker form a new project Far From Saints. The project draws on a country and Americana sounds which can be heard from the group’s debut track Let’s Turn This Back Around.
The single was written and produced by the band, with mixing from the Grammy-nominated Al Clay (Blur, Pixies) and is the first taste of an upcoming album from the new ensemble. On the track which ruminates on loved ones left behind, Patty and Kelly trade verses from opposing perspectives. Patty shares, “It was important to us to have both perspectives in that song,” while Kelly adds, “‘Let’s Turn This Back Around’ particularly lends itself to being a duet.”
The magic began as Patty and Dwight supported Kelly on his 2019 solo tour, with the trio writing and musically experimenting in hotel rooms and backstage when not performing to an audience. The result is a dreamy slice of country-tinged Americana with the blend of Patty and Kelly’s voices impressing against rousing instrumentation.
