The trailer for Argentinian revenge film, El Ardor (or The Burning to us simple English speakers), recently dropped and although the film is getting so-so reviews, the trailer has us a little bit excited. El Ardor appears to be packed with lots of things that we admire: big cats, shirtless Gael García Bernal, exotic tropical locales, and lots of outlandish action.
Kai (García Bernal), a mysterious and mystical figure, emerges from the Argentinean rainforest to rescue Vania (Alice Braga), who has been kidnapped by mercenaries. Together they face off against the men who have ruthlessly murdered Vania’s father, a poor farmer, and taken over his land.
The Burning (El Ardor) is released in the UK through Arrow Film on 19 June
