Aussie electronic duo Empire of the Sun make a welcome return with their first new solo single since 2017, Changes. The new music sees the band quickly reassert their signature ethereal dance style on fans, continuing to craft luscious and transcendent musical landscapes produced by Empire Of The Sun’s Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore alongside Peter Mayes, Vargas & Lagola, Magnus Lidehäll and Pontus Winnberg.
Littlemore delves into the inspiration behind the absorbing new dance anthem: “Changes represents the shifting sands of time, empires rise and fall but the sun shall shine on. Come once more into the world we’ve created, delve deeper within and be rewarded with its ever-expanding story, each and every one is invited to explore the new era.”
Steele mentions: “Changes was a breakthrough track for us. It felt like the moment of clarity when it became evident we were in the new era, our time of rebirth, the next chapter of Empire,” something that suggests Empire of the Sun’s fourth studio album may be on the horizon.
The band work with director Michael Maxxis on the single’s cinematic new video. Watch this above.
Empire of the Sun recently featured on Littlemore’s other project PNAU’s new album Hyperbolic – joining forces on AEIOU, a high energy dance cut.
