File this one under unabashed banger. Icelandic musician Svala, who you may remember from the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest through her song Paper, returns with a new single I Wanna Dance. From the title, you would be correct in assuming that the number was a up-tempo treat geared at getting listeners on the dancefloor.
Svala teams up with Haffi Haff, a musician who also eyed the nomination for Iceland’s Eurovision entry – competing in national final Söngvakeppnin with track Gia. Svala shares: “Our new song “I wanna dance” is out! We did it with Örlygur Smári who is an amazing songwriter and producer. The song is about finding the freedom to dance and move in any form.” Haffi joins producer Örlygur Smári as one of the track’s co-writers.
I Wanna Dance sees the Icelanders croon lyrics about getting your groove on against dramatic pounding synths and a gleefully nostalgic early 00s dance beat.
