The talented (and adorably handsome) SG Lewis returns with two new singles, Missing You and Something About Your Love. The 27 year old Brit follows up his 2021 album Time with the two new tracks, which are set to feet on his as yet unannounced follow-up LP.
On Missing You, SG notes: “Conceptually, it felt like the perfect introduction – it’s a story about temptation and dwindling fear. Your eyes are wandering.”
Missing You opens with a pulsating disco beat evocative of Hi-NRG dance music of Sylvester, before turning into a slinky contemporary pop banger adorned by smooth vocals and a sweeping chorus. Something About Your Love, still wonderfully danceable, feels more mid-tempo in its early stages with a warming piano loop and house elements that creep into the fold before it turns into a club-ready anthem. Both are undeniable treat
SG shares more about Something About Your Love: “It’s no secret I’m a massive Daft Punk fan. It’s the closest thing I’ve ever made to a tribute to them. I was listening to Discovery a lot, and there’s a specific technique to it. I chopped up the sample of these seventies keys and drums. It came together easily. Lyrically, it’s a pure confession of admiration for someone. It’s the perfect contrast to ‘Missing You.’”
SG has kept himself busy since his debut album, producing cuts for Jessie Ware, MØ and Mabel.
