Brandon Cronenberg is continuing to carve out an incredibly successful career in genre cinema following his debut feature Antiviral, released in 2012. The filmmaker continues to explore the realms of science fiction tinged horror with Possessor due for release some point in the latter half of 2020.
The official synopsis notes: “From the visionary mind of writer/director Brandon Cronenberg, POSSESSOR is an arresting sci-fi thriller about elite corporate assassin Tasya Vos. Using brain-implant technology, Vos takes control of other people’s bodies to execute high-profile targets. As she sinks deeper into her latest assignment, Vos becomes trapped inside a mind that threatens to obliterate her.”
Of course Brandon has the successful weight of the Cronenberg name – his father is legendary Canadian auteur David Cronenberg, the man behind such successes as Shivers, Rabid, The Dead Zone, Scanners, Crash and Map to the Stars, amongst others. However, Possessor looks set to assert Brandon is an impressive cinematic force in his own right. With a high profile cast including Andrea Riseborough, Sean Bean, and Jennifer Jason Leigh, we’re incredibly intrigued about this one.
