Norwegian songstress Annie returns with American Cars – her first release since 2015’s sublime Endless Vacation EP. The cinematic new track is written by Annie and Stefan Storm.
The influence of Johnny Jewel and his Italians Do It Better label feels prominent on American Cars – a woozy synth filled anthem which sees Annie’s dreamlike vocals float across icy production. It is a hypnotic delight that successfully manages to evoke dark, cinematic imagery akin to Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive.
Annie found success with Top 40 single Chewing Gum in 2004, which featured on her debut album Anniemal. She followed this album with sophomore album Don’t Stop which included our personal favourite I Know UR Girlfriend Hates Me. American Cars is part of Annie’s third album Dark Hearts – due October 16th. See the track list below.
