One thing can bring joy in these uncertain times is the sight of the beautiful Henry Golding and there is plenty to see in the newly released trailer for Monsoon. Coming soon from Pecadillo Pictures and director Hong Khaou (Lilting), the film is one of our most anticipated LGBT themed releases of the year. We’ve attached the official synopsis below:
MONSOON is a rich and poignant reflection on the struggle for identity in a place where the past weighs heavily on the present. Kit (Henry Golding, Crazy Rich Asians) returns to Ho Chi Minh City for the first time since he was six years old when his family fled the country in the aftermath of the Vietnam-American war. Struggling to make sense of himself in a city he’s no longer familiar with, he embarks on a personal journey across the country that opens up the possibility for friendship, love and happiness.
This looks like a thoughtful slow-burner that examines the experience of first and second generation emigrants, connecting with the history and experiences of their home countries. We’re incredibly excited for this one. More details on the film’s release as we have them.
