The Roop’s On Fire was one of the most hyped entries set to fight for victory at Eurovision 2020 in Rotterdam, but as we all know, that did not go according to plan. Thankfully The Roop are still keen to appear at Eurovision and their entry vying for success in Lithuania’s national selection Pabandom iš Naujo 2021 is released today.
Discoteque, which has pre-qualified for the final, is a slinky piece of avant-garde dance music written by Ilkka Wirtanen, Kalle Lindroth, Mantas Banišauskas, Robertas Baranauskas and Vaidotas Valiukevičius. It is produced by Laisvūnas Černovas and Vaidotas.
“Let’s discoteque right at my home, It is okay to dance alone, Dance alone, dance alone (Alone), Dance alone (Alone), dance alone (Alone), I got the moves, it’s gonna blow,” the band sing against rippling synths, twanging electric guitar, and dramatic beats. The track obviously refers to the current world of self-isolation and quarantining that currently faces music fans across the globe.
