Lindsay Lohan releases her first new single in 12 years today and the result is dreamy dancefloor anthem Back to Me. Signed to Republic Records, it’s a delight to see Lindsay back with big label backing and reminding us of the bops that she used to deliver.
Back to Me is a slinky club track that sees the singer finally move towards the dancepop genre as she sings across a chorus featuring autobiographical lines like “my life is full of ripped up pages, I’ve been weak, contagious, but I’ve been coming back to me.” Packed with dreamy synths and Lindsay’s smooth vocals, the track is an out and out success.
Back to Me is thought to be part of Lindsay’s upcoming third album, which is also expected to contain the much hyped track Xanax from 2019. The track was not given an official release, but was uploaded as an extended Instragram video.
Lindsay’s third album will follow 2004’s Speak and 2005’s A Little More Personal (Raw). She released standalone single Bossy in 2008 which was used as the theme for her iconic short lived MTV reality series Lindsay’s Beach Club.
