Xav Trudeau Lights Up The Summer With Electronic R&B-Pop Banger ‘Downtown’

Every so often, a track comes along that hits you with its powerhouse impact and undeniable cool, and this is exactly what Xav delivers with Downtown. The rising Canadian R&B-pop talent unveils his defiant new anthem this week, marking what we would describe as his strongest track yet.

Xav releases the track through 907 Records, collaborating with co-writers Derik Baker, Joel Stouffer and Elsa Curran. Baker and Stouffer craft the punchy electronic production, blending experimental vocal effects, powerhouse synths and EDM influences to create a true summer banger.

Tapping into the energy of summer romances, late-night drives and the buzz of the city, Downtown is an anthem that you’ll have on repeat. Xav explored the lyrics, noting: “That line is about falling for someone so deeply that they become your addiction. Instead of being buzzed from tequila, you’re buzzing from the way they make your heart feel. I wanted to capture that mix of excitement, nerves, and being completely consumed by one person. I hope listeners hear it and think of someone who’s made them feel that way.”

Xav, real name Xavier Trudeau, is building an impressive discography with tracks including Til the Nights Done, The Dive and Back Me Up, showcasing his musical versatility. He released his debut EP When Does It End? in 2025.
