Willa Ford Delivers Spellbinding New Number ‘Carousel’ Ahead of ‘amanda’ Album

When Willa Ford returned with new tracks Love4Life and Burn Burn, they became instant pop favourites for us. There is added excitement in the fact that the US star is back with a brand new full-length album titled amanda. The LP arrives on 6 March and also includes the recently released single Carousel which draws inspiration from Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson.

Willa shares: “‘Carousel’ is a song about hope and resilience. I grew up on the harmonies and genius of Brian Wilson. When I was looking for inspiration, I thought why not try to channel that into a pop song. I marched into the studio feeling like it could go well or terribly wrong. I built it part-by-part vocally thinking ‘what would Brian do?’ while also making sure the song showcased my sound. I’m so proud of how it turned out. It’s a richly layered pop song about life and its cycles. The ups and downs are inevitable, if we are lucky enough to live fully. I hope when anyone is struggling this song will remind them that things will get better. We just have to hold onto hope.”

Carousel is a beautiful spellbindingly melodic number, with building harmonies giving it a truly classic feel. Yet Willa channels modern electronic flavours on the number. Willa co-writes the new track alongside Jonathan Bluth, Max Cinnamon and Vincent Ott, with Ott also producing.

Willa first found success with her 2001 album Willa Was Here, which featured pop anthems including I Wanna Be Bad and Tired. Her return to pop was something of an unplanned event. “This album was never supposed to happen,” Willa says. “In fact, I never thought I would return to music. Somehow, through my trials, music found me and healed me when I didn’t even know I was in need of healing. My hope is that if my music can bring love and healing to others, then I’ll have done my job.”
