US Singer-Songwriter Debbii Dawson Channels 80s Workout Pop on New Single ‘Gut Feelings’

Transporting us back to the days of VHS, Eighties workout videos, and lycra gear, Debbii Dawson delivers an eighties fever dream with new single Gut Feelings.

Brimming with hypnotic synths, powerpop style and big vocals, Debbii and co-producer Leroy Clampitt craft an intoxicating soundscape. The pair write the track with Noonie Bao, with lyrics tapping into a theme of trusting your inner voice, when things don’t seem right. Debbii’s soft vocals croon: “I have got a notion, it’s causing some commotion inside / A rumbling in my tummy, maybe I’m just hungry, oh my / Gut feelings tryna tell me, tell me that something is off / Yeah, I never listen, even though it’s never wrong…”

Debbii’s run of 2025 singles including Chemical Reaction and You Killed The Music have explored the star’s versatility, yet this eighties inspired sound suits her beautifully. It is expected that after releasing a number of EPs in previous years, that Debbii’s 2025 tracks may be featured as part of her debut album.

The star shared: “This song has nothing to do with showering but that’s where I was when I was thinking of all of my life’s regrets and wishing I listened to my gut feelings more. It has many happy accidents but also a lot of intention (I recut the entire vocal several times) We had too much fun working on the production for this one! We started in November and tinkered around up until a couple of weeks ago. It’s hard to stop working when it feels like playing.”
