Aussie star Toby Hobart has steadily been giving us some high-quality singles this year. Now, not only does Toby deliver another in the form of Goes So Fast, but he also announces his debut EP. Titled Those Three Words, the six-track set arrives on 13 November.
Toby shares: When I was 4 years old I sat down at a piano for the very first time. Somehow, I weirdly feel like that first note I ever played led me to do everything I’ve done today. I have way too much to tell you about everything that’s been going on behind the scenes but it’s too much for one post… I’ve been dreaming about this moment for a very long time… and the timing feels so damn right.
Goes So Fast sees Toby collaborate with James Angus, crafting slow-burning R&B-pop-infused production with an ever-impressive vocal from the charismatic performer. The star told Milky Milky Milky: “This song’s about that feeling when someone starts pulling away before they’ve said a single word. You both know, but neither of you wants to be the one to say it and make it real. It’s not some big dramatic moment either…it’s much quieter than that. It just slowly drains the colour out of everything, bit by bit, until one day it’s too much to ignore. Writing this taught me something I probably should’ve already known: the longer you hang onto something, the harder it gets to let go. One of those lessons that means nothing until you’ve actually lived through it.”
Those Three Words includes Toby’s previous singles Swim and Strangers, as well as the freshly dropped Goes So Fast and three brand-new tracks. We are delighted to see Toby release a full body of work with his latest EP, as the star has given us some truly fantastic standalone tunes. We can’t wait to see how these six tracks flow and connect.
