Tess Merkel and Martin Rolinski delighted us with their high energy scandi-banger Let There Be Love earlier this year, and we are delighted that the duo made up of the DNA of Alcazar and BWO have more music to adorn our playlists. With both of the duo’s alma maters coming from the same glam-pop family as Army of Lovers, it makes perfect sense that the pair would put their distinctive pop spin on Crucified. The 1991 Army of Lovers anthem is revived as Crucified Reborn with the support of original performers Jean-Pierre Barda and Alexander Bard in the new music video.
Crucified Reborn ups the BPMs and brings in the slinky vocals of Martin and Tess, whilst retaining the original’s theatrical pop sheen. There’s slightly more of an electronic disco vibe infused in Crucified Reborn, helping it shine as its own separate entity from the flawless original. The track is written by Johan Röhr, Martin Rolinski, Tess Merkel, Alexander Bard, Anders Wollbeck, and Jean-Pierre Barda, with production from Johan Röhr. Vanity Vain directs the high-camp music video, which is a true pop work of art.
