She’s Back! Diana Vickers Returns With Delicious Pop Feast ‘Ice Cream’

Diana Vickers is a pop star still on regular rotation at Culture Fix HQ – whether it be her debut Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree – but more often its incredible follow-up Music to Make Boys Cry. Now Diana ends a real pop drought with her first single in twelve years – and track, Ice Cream, is an undeniable banger.

Dripping in swagger and camp, Ice Cream sees Diana open with “Hi, I’m back, did you miss me?” before launching into addictive hooks and “I want to play, are you with me, You could be the recipe, My chilli sauce, add extra heat, My fastest ever Lamborghini, 99 ice cream machine…” It’s a joyous return to the pop landscape for Diana who writes the cheeky track with Dee Adams and James Earp. Adams also contributes the slinky electronic pop production, which helps make the track an instant Vickers classic.

Diana shares: “This one’s a love letter to my gays, theys & girlies 💕 (and yes, straight boys, you can claim it as your guilty pleasure too). Endless gratitude to my incredible team for helping me bring my vision to life — you’ve made my campest sweetest dreams a reality.”

Hopes are high that Ice Cream could be part of more regular releases from the Kiss of a Bullet queen (Google it, kids!). Fans should also try and catch Diana in I Wish You Well: The Gwyneth Paltrow Ski-Trial Musical which we caught at the Fringe a few years ago.
