We’ve all been there, caught in spirals of insomnia, staring at the ceiling and tossing and turning. Now, rising UK star Lostchild taps into this madness in new single Never Sleep.
Press notes share: “Guilt. Shame. Fear. Paranoia. Anxiety. Unable to numb your senses with drugs and alcohol anymore. Your ears ringing louder every night. Your body aching from the strain of what it goes through every day. Memories that just won’t leave.” It continues: “Whatever it is that keeps you up at night, this song is written about lying awake, unable to sleep because of the world we live in, tossing and turning… 1, 2, 3am… 4, 5, 6 again…”
Never Sleep is a dark-pop number, bursting with thunderous bass, hypnotic delivery and synths perfect for a sad pop banger. It crafts a nightmarish pop landscape where themes of insomnia and intoxicating melodies collide, topped off with the icing on the cake: Lostchild’s delicious vocal delivery. Never Sleep is written by Lostchild and Janethan, with production, mixing and mastering from Lostchild.
Sonically and thematically, Never Sleep picks up nicely from Lostchild’s 2024 single LVST, a dark electro pop ode to having sex in clubs.
