Rising British pop talent Fred Roberts returns with a synth-soaked new anthem, Object of Desire, following his 2024 single Get It Over With. The track sees Fred further establish himself as one of the country’s most exciting indie pop voices, thanks to his authentic lyrics and distinctive vocals.
Written by Andrew Wells, Anthony Rossomando, and Fred Roberts, Object of Desire pulses with driving synths and Fred’s confident delivery. The nostalgic, late-eighties-inspired number draws on themes of longing and vulnerability – heightened by Wells’ atmospheric production.
Fred shares: “I’ve been waiting what feels like a lifetime to continue this journey and I’m so excited to start this next chapter with this song, as it feels really authentically me. It comes from a place of feeling used, disposable, and not worthy of love as a result of it. It’s desperate and full of yearning, and it’s me.”
The star elaborates on the meaning behind the track, explaining: “It’s about realising that when you’re searching for love in someone who just can’t give it, whether that’s because they’re straight or they’re simply not in the right place in their life, it leaves you feeling like an object. That’s where the title comes from.”
