Olly Murs Channels British Ska-Pop on New ‘Knees Up’ Single ‘Run This Town’

Olly Murs kicked off the campaign for his upcoming studio album Knees Up with the feel-good, British party single Save Me, capturing a raucous night out. He follows the number with new track Run This Town, another cheeky British ska-pop anthem that captures his playful musical persona.

On the November 21st scheduled album, Olly’s eighth studio LP, he shares: “This is the first album in years I’ve made authentically for me – it’s daring, fun, a bit bonkers – and the most buzzing I’ve felt about music in a long time. My fans have been there through everything over the last 15 years, and I can’t wait for them to hear something fresh & fun from me. Time for a cheeky little Knees Up!!”

Run This Town is written by Mark Taylor and Samuel Preston, with production from Taylor. The number impresses as the strongest taste of the album so far – not a surprising statement for anyone that has heard previous taster single Bonkers.

The track actually spurred from back in 2010, when Olly was recording his debut album. He notes: “This song’s been with me since my first album back in 2010. I’ve always loved it, but it never quite found the right moment… until now.”

Continuing, he shares: “It’s got that Madness-style energy that I’ve always wanted to tap into. When I started working on the ‘Knees Up’ album late last year with the style of songs I was writing it finally felt like the right time to bring it to life and add it to the mix. I’ve wanted to release this one for years and now it’s time!”
