Olivier Dion releases new single Pardon Pardon, a slow-burning French-language groover with a subtle thread of melancholy running through it. The Canadian musician collaborates with Philippe Besner and Jean-Philippe Lemieux on the emotive track.
The star shared: “This song I didn’t write because I had an album to deliver. I wrote it because I had misery to pretend that everything was okay. Pardon Pardon. Friday.” The song taps into the idea of pushing on whilst it feels like the world around you is falling apart, capturing that quiet tension between knowing something is wrong and choosing to keep dancing anyway. Olivier described the number as: “A song about the unease of continuing to live normally while the world is collapsing.”
There is an understated bite to Pardon Pardon, touching on keeping up appearances and brushing things under the carpet, even when everything feels a bit off. It is that mix of honesty and restraint that gives the track its quiet impact, as well as Olivier’s emotive vocal.
The musician accompanies the single with a symbolism-packed visual, shot in black and white, featuring expressive dancers and atmospheric locations that mirror the song’s introspective tone.
