Nineties Electronic Icons D:Ream Return With New Album ‘Do It Anyway’, Synth-Driven Title Track

Nineties Northern Irish electronic pop heroes D:Ream announce details of their fifth studio album Do It Anyway, arriving on July 25th. The duo made up of Peter Cunnah and Al Mackenzie give a sample of the full set with the freshly dropped title track which is released through a deal with label Chrysalis.

New single Do It Anyway was pitched as a potential track for Kylie Minogue thirty years ago and had marinaded in the vault until Peter and Al decided revamp the number, yet retain its synth-soaked nostalgic flavour. Expect similar sounds on the album which is said to tap into dance and electronica with ‘a pop-leaning accessibility’ as well as giving hints of ‘electro-funk, trip-hop, broken beats and gospel flourishes’.

Peter shares: It’s got that connotation of getting involved in partying. In the ’90s we didn’t know what these drugs were, we didn’t know how safe they were or not. But we were anarchic in that regard, and we were just up for feeling, for that moment, for that party. And that’s reflecting back on that.”

Al adds: “It’s a great lead single because that whole ’90s club thing is where Pete and I met, got our act together and formed D:Ream. We never want to wallow in the past but it was nice to bring that feeling back saying: would you have changed it? No! We’re very stubborn!”
