Nick Jonas Releases Piano-Driven New Single ‘Gut Punch’, Readies ‘Sunday Best’ Album

Fans of the Jonas Brothers have been truly fed the past year. We’ve had a Christmas film and album, the impressive Greetings From Your Hometown album, a debut Kevin Jonas single, and a Joe Jonas solo album. Now it’s Nick’s time to shine as the pop heartthrob unveils his new album Sunday Best – his first solo album since 2021’s impeccable Spaceman LP. Nick gives us the first taste of the project in brand new single Gut Punch.

On Gut Punch, Nick shares: “I tend to be hyper critical of myself, not typically about my appearance or getting older, but I was wondering, ‘Am I doing everything to be the best version of myself? Am I a present and thoughtful husband? Am I a good father?’ As time goes by, the stress and complications of life will weigh on you. It’s important to remember there was once a version of you who was carefree and loved the world.”

Gut Punch is written by Bianca “Blush” Atterberry, Josette Maskin, Nick Jonas and Ryan Daly – the latter also produces the piano-driven production.

Arriving February 6th via Republic Records, Sunday Best is said to channel more of a singer-songwriter vibe on the set which is rumoured to be routed in a more stripped back gospel and country-flavoured style. Nick shares: “I’m so excited to share these new stories, candid thoughts, quiet walks home in the city, and snapshots of my life over these past few years. While this album was made over the course of the last two years, it was truly 33 years in the making.”

Nick debuted one of the songs from the upcoming eleven track set, I Need You, during the Jonas Brothers’ Nov. 17 show at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. He also announced and previewed the album in Las Vegas on Nov. 30 at Nick Jonas’s Sunday Best event. A video introduction at the event shared“How would you describe this album to someone who’s never heard your music before?” before unveiling “I would ask them if they knew what love is, what it really is, if they said yes I would say ‘Then you know what the album sounds like.’”

Sunday Best is available to pre-order on CD, vinyl and streaming services.
