There’s a banger coming out of Malta in the form of Miriana Conte and Mychael Bartolo Chircop’s new anthem What the Helena? The track sees the Malta Eurovision Song Contest stars join forces to tell the tale of Helena, the woman who’s got both of them torn up.
Written by Miriana Conte, Mychael Bartolo Chircop, Matt Muxu Mercieca and Peter Borg, who also produces the track, the song is an infectious, attitude-filled dance-pop number. The combination of Mychael’s deeper rock vocal with Miriana’s pop perfection is a truly unique pairing that showcases the immense talent to be found in the Maltese music scene.
“I loved the craziness of the story from the very beginning,” Mychael said. “Following Dancing on the Floor and my performance at Isle of MTV Malta, I wanted to show a different side of myself, and this collaboration with Miriana was the perfect opportunity.” Miriana described the song as “bold, playful and full of personality”.
