Mae Muller continues to push her sound in exciting new directions with her latest single Wheels Come Off. The track takes musical inspiration from the 00s British pop scene, drawing influence from the likes of Lily Allen and classic UK girl groups, while also tapping into themes of global instability, pressure and uncertainty.
Flourish and Wolf Cutt produce Wheels Come Off, with lyrics written by Mae alongside Michael Keefe, Camilla Dunhill and Ben Dunkerley. The track follows Mae’s previous 2026 single Tell You That, which arrived after her 2025 EP My Island.
Mae shared: “I wrote Wheels Come Off because I kept on reading tragic headline after tragic headline, and every time I picked up my phone I felt like I was going insane because of what I was reading. It’s s a song about feeling helpless in a world that feels like it’s coming apart and almost feeling betrayed by that.”
