The documentary details Kylie’s rise through the Aussie soap Neighbours to pop glory with Stock Aitken Waterman, before she pursued her own independent musical path. Showcasing her status as the ultimate queen of pop reinvention, Kylie has released a brand-new track, Light Up, to tie in with the documentary’s launch.
The number was written by Kylie and composed by the Aussie star alongside Richard “Biff” Stannard, Duck Blackwell, Luke Fitton, and Coldplay’s Chris Martin—with production handled by Kylie, Biff, and Duck. The musician shares: “The song is about that love that your parent, or someone who cares for you, can give you when you’re lost, confused, lonely, distressed… someone who loves you can look into your eyes and see a world of potential.”
The lyrics beautifully tap into this message, with Kylie singing: “Nobody knows every beat of your heart / But you saw the light in me right from the start / Over hills and through valleys, the road can be long / But even in silence, you’re singing my song” atop a driving, up-tempo pop production.
