The Jonas Brothers hark back to the days of burnt CDs and nostalgic memories on their new single Listen When Sad. The track draws inspiration from the band’s earlier music, seeing them reconnect with Burnin’ Up producer John Fields for their first new non-holiday music as a group since their Greetings From Your Hometown album.
“We debuted this song last weekend at Madison Square Garden, and it felt fitting since those shows were a homecoming in so many ways, and that’s how this song feels for us too,” said the Jonas Brothers.
“Listen When Sad was influenced by so many of the emo and alternative bands we grew up idolising. This song feels like a little piece of where we came from, but made for where we are now. We hope you love it as much as we do.”
Listen When Sad is written by Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas, Kevin Jonas, Paris Carney, JP Saxe, Jack Lawless and Tommy English. It is expected to be the first taste of what will eventually make up the trio’s eighth studio album.
