Like many, we unapologetically love Joey Essex’s 2011 banger Reem so we were delighted to see its viral resurgence last year. This success was enough to prompt the British reality television legend back into the studio to record a new summer dance banger in the form of Close To You.
On Close To You, Joey collaborates and co-produces with Aruhtra, crafting an up-tempo Summer dance anthem available in both a radio edit, extended version and VIP Club Mix. For the track, the Love Island and The Only Way is Essex star takes on the 1990 Maxi Priest song that was written by hit songwriters Priest, Gary Banson, Guy Sigsworth and Winston Sela. Sigworth of course known for his work with Britney Spears, Björk, and Madonna – and now Essex.
This is an undeniable shake-up in sound from Joey’s previous single and dare we say feels more credible. The vocals (presumably Joey’s) sound slick and move away from the spoken-rap style of Reem.
