Italian Pop Legend Donatella Rettore Releases Triumphant Dancepop Album ‘Antidiva Putiferio’

This one slipped us by and we just had to share the latest album from Italy’s Donatella Rettore – the fabulous subversive pop diva who broke through with her anthem Splendido Splendente back in 1979 – returns with a new(ish) album Antidiva Putiferio which spawned singles including Thelma & Louise and Disco Prosecco.

Release notes share: “Curious, restless, ironic, unprejudiced, rebellious, provocative, and capable of blending pop, rock, disco, and even ska, Donatella Rettore, or simply Rettore, has always been a free spirit who, in her 40-year career, has released 19 albums and sold over 30 million records worldwide. The quintessential “Antidiva” of Italian music announces her new album of original songs, “ANTIDIVA PUTIFERIO,” the title of the new album, out January 10th (Warner Music Italy), by the great ’80s icon, a multifaceted rock singer-songwriter, an artist who has written (and shaped) a piece of music history.”

As the title suggests, the avant garde pop queen delves into the glorious world of high energy pop and dance music with numbers such as the floorfilling Odio Tutti and the synth alt-pop anthem Chimica. Donatella packs her quirky charisma into each number, showing at seventy years old, she’s still more than capable of releasing an album of pop-bangers. Give this a spin and you’ll be chanting Disco Prosecco for the foreseeable.
