Interview: Xav Trudeau Talks Downtown, New Music and Live Shows

Xavier ‘Xav’ Trudeau is currently impressing with his brand new single Downtown. The Canadian star has confidently navigated R&B and hip-hop flavours on his debut EP When Does It End?, but now explores more electronic-driven pop on Downtown. The musician joins Culture Fix’s Andrew to dig into the story behind the track, discuss his growth as an artist, and give us a taste of what’s coming next for him musically.

Xav shares insight into the creative sessions and his desire to craft a big, radio-friendly pop tune, as well as what he hopes listeners will take away from the euphoric electronic number. The star also reflects on what’s coming next, giving us a hint at new music on the horizon, as well as revealing that he will soon be heading to Norway to work on some new tracks.

Xav also gave us a sense of what we can expect from his live performances, sharing his excitement about giving Downtown its live debut next month. The musician reflected on having a strong support network around him with people whose opinions he trusts, something that has helped him hone his craft throughout his time in the industry. The star also discussed the impact the Trudeau name has had on his career.
