Interview: Rogue Traders’ James Ash Chats New Album ‘Midnight Alarms’ and Upcoming Tour

We have made no secret of our love of Rogue Traders’ new tracks. The Australian pop icons have not held back with their latest releases, including LoveDrunk and Take You Down. Culture Fix’s Andrew sat down with Rogue Traders’ James Ash to chat about all things Rogue Traders, from their upcoming album Midnight Alarms to their forthcoming tour dates.

James dug into the inspiration behind the new tracks: Take You Down, a brooding, attitude-filled electropop number, and LoveDrunk, the bombastic Rogue Traders modern classic. Expectations are high for Midnight Alarms, the band’s first album in fifteen years. As for what to expect, James explores what listeners can look forward to from the upcoming singles and some of the surprises in store for fans on the new LP.

In our interview, James shares what fans can expect from the band’s expansive run of live dates on the horizon, with tickets available here, with fan-favourite anthems like Voodoo Child, One of My Kind, and Watching You likely to make an appearance. James also digs into the band’s celebration of their musical legacy, as well as some of the tracks they sampled as part of their unique sound.

As always with Culture Fix, Eurovision comes into question. Would the band ever consider representing Australia in the iconic song contest? Make sure to stick around until the end of the interview as James reveals some of his musical tastes in our quickfire final round.
