David Archuleta is currently at new creative heights with his recent musical releases with tracks such as Afraid to Love, Rather Be Lonely, and Hell Together showcasing an impressive musicality and authenticity from the US hitmaker. David sat down with Culture Fix editor Andrew to chat about the most recent of his new releases, a cover of George Michael’s classic anthem Freedom. The musician chats about his relationship with Michael’s music and how the message of Freedom parallels David’s own story of embracing his authentic self after stepping away from the confines of the Mormon church.

David delves into his experiences of drawing inspiration from classic soul music and now more recently EDM anthems and the festival culture, further channelling these themes of Freedom. The handsome pop talent also spoke about getting a little bit flirty on his upcoming single and embracing this newfound energy on the track.

David speaks candidly about his experiences within his previous religious confines, exploring how he has managed to tackle many of the challenging emotions of this time when writing his upcoming memoir. The star explores how tackling the project will hopefully be a source of inspiration for young people currently struggling in oppressive religious backgrounds.

Make sure to stick around until the end of the video to hear David take part in our quickfire round where he gives some insights into his music favourites, guilty pleasures, and more.
