Interview: ALICJA Talks ‘Pray’, Representing Poland at Eurovision 2026 and Her Musical Evolution

Eurovision 2026 is edging ever closer, and one star hoping to impress at the contest is Alicja, who represents Poland with her entry Pray. Culture Fix editor Andrew caught up with Alicja shortly before she heads to Vienna, taking time to explore the song, how it will be brought to life on stage, and to reflect on her musical inspirations and tastes.

The musician makes a welcome return to the contest after being scheduled to perform in Rotterdam in 2020 with Empires. She is now back and more confident than ever with Pray, which represents a more evolved and authentic version of who she is as an artist. Alicja discusses the fusion of genres within the track, drawing on gospel, R&B-pop and hip-hop, while also revealing the creative process behind the song.

Of course, the track was met with success in Poland’s Finał Krajowych Kwalifikacji, but Alicja also revealed plans to completely revamp the staging. She described themes of confidence that will be reflected in both her outfit and stage performance in Vienna.

Alicja, who has been working hard in the studio and is signed to a UK label, also shared how work is progressing on her latest album. The musician explored some of her favourite tracks and the stories behind the music that has inspired her, showcasing her strong musical taste and knowledge throughout the interview.
