We are truly obsessed with Heidi Klum revisiting her pop star era, with the star delivering an all-star collaboration with producer Diplo. The new single, Red Eye, is the German supermodel’s first single since her cover of the eighties synthpop hit Sunglasses at Night. True pop aficionados know this is not Heidi’s only foray into pop music, with releases including the Christmas number Wonderland and the Snoop Dogg collaboration Chai Tea with Heidi.
Red Eye is another gem from Heidi, with the star purring in the pre-chorus: ‘I took a flight, a red-eye / I left you back, we never said bye / I prayed to God, he don’t forget about us / Oh, baby, baby, don’t forget.’
Diplo shared with People magazine: ‘I feel like people don’t know Heidi as a pop star, but I feel like she could be. She looks like one. As a producer, you always look at somebody, and it’s not just their voice, it’s their whole image and what makes the most sense.’
Heidi noted: ‘I just texted him out of the blue. I’m like, “You are always working on so many different songs. I’m sure you have some in a drawer somewhere that are not used yet, that need a home. I need a song for my TV show for Germany.” And then he’s like, “Yeah, sure thing.”’
She continued: ‘I just thought it was fun, and the hook got me hooked.’ Talking about the visuals associated with the track, she shared: ‘I immediately saw us kind of riding on gigantic fish through the sky. I was like, I’m seeing us just doing weird things, like flying through space. I’m sitting on the outside of a plane where I’m getting a phone call.’
Now give us the album Heidi. WE. NEED. IT.
