JJ took to the stage in Luxembourg at the country’s Eurovision national selection, the Luxembourg Song Contest, with his new single Shapeshifter, a number which the Eurovision 2025 champion is now giving an official release. The slick, contemporary pop track combines JJ’s sublime operatic vocals with electropop touches, serving as a striking showcase for the star’s distinctive pop appeal.
Shapeshifter is written by Cecil Remmler, Ferras Alqaisi, Jaro Omar, Johannes ‘JJ’ Pietsch and Marek Pompetzki, with production from FNSHRS. The track sees the Austrian musician belt the emotion-packed, imagery-filled lyrics: Turn my tears into burning flames / Turn my fears into golden rain / Throw me in the river, I’m a shape-shape shifter…
The song is expected to feature on JJ’s debut album, which is likely to include previous singles Back to Forgetting, Haunting Me and his Eurovision-winning track Wasted Love. It is a safe bet that we might hear more about this when JJ returns to Eurovision for his victory performance in May 2026 in Vienna.
