David Archuleta released his eagerly awaited memoir Devout earlier this year, now the star releases an accompanying EP that explores some of themes touched upon in his unflinching book. The three-track set includes song Old and Young, Stay and On Purpose, numbers which feel raw and honest, showcasing David’s impressive musical finesse.
The star shared with fans: “This EP feels like a return to a younger part of myself — to the way I approached music when I was still figuring out who I was, what I wanted to say, and how to say it honestly. These songs feel a little more raw, a little more vulnerable, and really rooted in storytelling in a way that means so much to me.” He continues: “This project connects so deeply to the story I shared in my memoir, and It means a lot to finally share this with you. Thank you for listening, for supporting me, and for continuing to let me evolve.”
David captured the challenges detailed in his memoir in our interview last year, where the star explored some of the themes he would later expand upon in the book. Watch that interview here.
In a statement, David shared of his new project: “A lot of people who saw teenage David on TV thought they knew me. In DEVOUT, I share that there was a lot more going on behind the scenes than many realized — with me, with my family, and with the show. I had to recondition almost everything I learned or was taught to believe, and that process can be challenging. This is a story about finding courage within yourself during your absolute darkest moment to persevere and become who you truly are.”
